This half day tour will delight you as you go cycling through the beautiful countryside to visit the tiled roof bridge and the charming museum of architecture.

On leaving the relative hustle and bustle of Hue, you will ride along the shaded road, past casuarinas trees, rice paddy fields, canals, buffalos at pasture and local people going about their daily lives. On a rural market-days, you can enjoy a variety of products for sale such as Thuy Tan sticky rice, Thuy Duong rice wine, then more common food such as Tay, U cakes, corn, lotus seed sweet soups as well the popular delicacies of Hue such as sticky rice with braised pork, chopped lemongrass with roasted sesame and Hue cakes.

Your destination is Thanh Toan village. The village nestles in an area of natural beauty alongside the river. Here you can see the Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge,  one of the main tourism attractions located in the rural area close to Hue City. The Bridge is an arched, covered wooden structure dating back to 1776.  The bridge is called  “Thượng gia hạ kiều” (house above, bridge underneath) and is of great historical and cultural value.

Across the bridge, you will come to the small but fascinating museum of agricultural tools, which offers an insight into modern history through the old ways of farming. You can see objects on display such as ploughs, sickles, hoes, rice-hulling mills and pictures of wet rice civilizations. There are other exhibits to catch fish together with rattan and bamboo woven souvenir gifts to purchase.

The rural people are gentle, kind hearted and very friendly. On a rural market-days, you can enjoy a variety of products for sale such as Thuy Tan sticky rice, Thuy Duong rice wine, then more common food such as Tay, U cakes, corn, lotus seed sweet soups as well the popular delicacies of Hue such as sticky rice with braised pork, chopped lemongrass with roasted sesame, and Hue cakes.

Before returning  to Hue, you can  take a walk along the Nhu Y River or take a cycle ride to meet the local artists, twin brothers Thanh and Hai in the neighboring village, Lai The. They are happy to welcome you to their local gallery and tell you about their shared passion for painting.
