Football for All in Vietnam

FFAV is an initiative developed between the Football Association of Norway (NFF) and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). FFAV starts its operation in Hanoi in 2001, and in 2003, the project was officially moved to Thua Thien Hue province.  FFAV work to develop children’s non-competitive grassroots football in primary and secondary schools with a special focus on marginalized group such as people with a disability, people with ethnic minority background, and people with HIV/AIDS infected/affected.

FFAV uses football activities as a tool to integrate fundamental life skill activities (such as HIV/AIDS information, high risk education on Explosive  Remnants of War (ERW), personal hygiene and sanitation, communication skills, traffic safety  etc.) which are defined based on the real situation and need of the club.

Ever since the first club started in 2004, FFAV has seen an incredible growth in the number of children and youth playing football; adults being trained; and an increased interest in the project activities in general. As of 2015, FFAV has 171 football clubs with 17.468 players of the age from 6-15 (50% girls) and more than 5000 people have been trained as coaches, leaders and referees.

This is a great driving force for FFAV to continue to develop and spread its activities to many other provinces and to build Thua Thien Hue as a model for community football development in Vietnam and in South East Asia.
