Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh is a sprawling metropolis of approximately 10 million people. Prior to 1975, it was known as Saigon and is still referred by some people by that name. It forms the commercial centre of Vietnam with ample opportunities for the shopper to explore the local markets and modern shopping arcades alike. And of course, it also has some interesting places of historical interest to visit such as the Palace, the Cathedral and don't miss the amazing architecture of the Post Office! HCM is a high energy, high powered city with thousands of motorbikes buzzing constantly around modern skyscrapers that fit snugly among the older, more traditional parts of the city. HCM also offers a perfect base to travel to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the Mekong Delta, Phu Quoch Island and many more delights of the south.
